(c) 1993 DIGITAL NEWS (31:3131/0)
International Hub (DN_NET) echo mail & file distribution network
Zoetermeer, Zuid Holland, The Netherlands

+31.(o)79.428374 (bbs)
1. INTRODUCTION
DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK (shortening DN_NET) is operated as a public service
of DIGITAL NEWS (The Net Host Bulletin Board) and is an independent mail
and file distribution Network. The Network is run by the Network
Coordinator, Marco Reparon, who is one of the two SysOps of DIGITAL NEWS.
The Coordinator reserves the right to admit or refuse any BBS or SYSOP as
a participating member of the Network. The Network Coordinator further
reserves the right to remove or suspend net access of any individual point,
node, hub or regional hub for any action considered detrimental to the
goals, spirit or quality of the DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK and these guidelines.
DN_NET is a BRAND NEW NETWORK, we are looking for hubs, nodes and points.
Anybody with an interest in becoming a DN_NET node is heartily encouraged
to join us. Although we would like to get as many hubs as possible, BBS's
with high speed modems (V.32s & HST) are the most desirable. Basically,
if you have a genuine interest in becoming a hub, you won't be turned down.
As DN_NET is in its infancy, there is no formal structure to the net. As
the network grows it will be structured. If you are interested in joining
DN_NET, you may contact the network coordinator.
2. PURPOSE
DN_NET has one simple goal: distributing all information concerning games.
Games? We think there is a great interest in games. Illegal? No, ofcourse
not. We are going to distribute press releases, previews, price lists
company profiles, demo's etc. etc. The advantage of distributing this
information by echomail is quite simple. You get it fast and easy. Fast
means: you MUST have a high speed modem because very large packets of
files are going to be send through the network. More details about this
will be given when you fill in the membership application form.
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR HUB/NODES
At least a HIGH SPEED MODEM. A working Bulletin Board. I don't care
which BBS type you use, as long as you can store the information and
files correctly. A working mailer. It doesn't matter what mailer you
use, as long you can connect to mailers like: Frontdoor, d'Bridge,
Binkleyterm or Starnet (Amiga) etc. Harddisk space. And last but not
least enough space for the DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK areas. This means:
MAIL and FILE areas! Great, isn't it ?
High speed? yes [_] - no [_]
BBS? yes [_] - no [_]
Mailer? yes [_] - no [_]
Hd space? yes [_] - no [_]
Areas? yes [_] - no [_]
When you have one 'no' answer, you can forget the member status, but if
you want to operate as a PASS_THRU system (no BBS & no AREAS) then it
is fine to me! But don't forget that you have to search for nodes!
Because it is very important that the information is available at as many
systems as possible.
4. NETWORK GUIDELINES
While it is not the intent of DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK Coordinator to
interfere with any SysOps authority on his or her BBS, all relayed
conferences are subject to the jurisdiction of these guidelines. These
Network guidelines are explained in detail below and DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK
SysOps are responsible for the enforcement these Network guidelines.
1) No Illegal Activities
************************
Any illegal activities, including but not limited to the promotion of
illegal acts and promotion of software copyright infringement will not
be allowed within the DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK. Any such activities
constitute a grievous reason for the removal of the point, node or hub
from the Net, and may necessitate compensatory action against the
violator for any legal liabilities such activities may cause the
DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK.
2) No BBS Advertisements
************************
Participating DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK SysOps will not relay nor will
allow to be relayed messages that contain information that advertise
Bulletin Board System's.
3) No Aliases
*************
Obvious "aliases" must not be used in DN_NET network conferences. We
are not telling you that you can not have aliased users but if you do
they must NOT be able to access or enter messages into ANY of DIGITAL
NEWS NETWORK's echo mail areas. SysOps of each participating Bulletin
Board System are responsible for ensuring that only validated users are
allowed to exchange messages within conferences that are relayed by
DIGITAL NEWS. It is the Network Coordinator's understanding that each
node SysOp is responsible for the names used on his or her Bulletin
Board System. If the SysOp grants a user an alias for what the SysOp
deems is a valid reason, such as security, and that alias is not
apparently an alias, such as Mr. X, which is, then there's no need to
inform DIGITAL NEWS of that alias. Should the Network Coordinator feel
a user is using an alias the SysOp of the originating board must either
validate or disable access to DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK's echo mail areas
by this user.
4) No Flames or Personal Attacks
********************************
Anyone found to be abusive in nature, such as but not limited to, name
calling, insults, slanderous statements, arrogant or instigative posts
or any other rude, lewd or otherwise obnoxious behavior or comments,
is to be removed from the echo mail areas. Further occurances of this
abuse will result in the user(s) being removed from the Network
completely. DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK and all member SysOps assume no account
ability or liability whatsoever for any violations of this policy by any
and all users of the DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK. Network SysOps can and will
be held accountable for failure to remove any user or users who make
statements that are abusive, slanderous or demeaning to any individual,
group, organization either social, political, theological or racial.
5) ANSI In Messages
*******************
'ANSI' is NOT permitted in the DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK!
6) Language
***********
The language in DIGITAL NEWS NETWORK is English. NO other languages
are allowed. This rule is necessary for all the international people
in the NETWORK.
7) PRIVATE messages
*******************
Simple, not allowed!
